Joe Lefebvre

Joe Lefebvre enters his 22nd year with the San Francisco Giants organization, currently serving as a Senior Advisor, Scouting. In his role, Lefebvre evaluates talent at both the major league and minor league levels, and provides input regarding player acquisitions and roster moves. He switched to his current scouting role in April of 2015. Previously, Lefebvre had been in uniform for four and a half seasons, assisting hitting coach Hensley Meulens. From 2008 to 2011, Lefebvre was serving in his first stint as Senior Advisor, Scouting. Prior to moving to the Giants front office, he served on the Giants’ coaching staff from 2002-07. He manned the first base coaching box while also assisting hitting instructor Gene Clines in 2002. From 2003- 07 he was the club’s hitting coach, working with some of the games finest hitters. Over the course of his career, he has served as a coach on the Major League staff of Dusty Baker, Felipe Alou, and Bruce Bochy. Lefebvre worked as the Giants’ triple-A hitting coach from 1996-98 and the club’s coordinator of minor league hitting from 1997-2001. Prior to joining San Francisco, he was an instructor in the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies minor league systems. The former outfielder compiled a .258 average in 447 Major League games over six seasons with the Yankees (1980), San Diego Padres (1981-83) and Phillies (1983-86). He was originally the Yankees’ third round selection in the June, 1977 Draft. Lefebvre was one of Sabean’s high school teammates. The Eckerd College product resides in Hooksett, NH with his wife, Julie. He has two children, Gregory and Kristin.
