Joe Lefebvre begins his fourth year in the front office after serving on the Giants coaching staff from 2002-07. His knowledge of the players in the San Francisco chain and other organizations prove invaluable to Brian Sabean, as he provides evaluations on both the major and minor league levels.

Lefebvre, 54, enters his 16th season with the Giants, having been a coach on the staffs of Dusty Baker, Felipe Alou and Bruce Bochy over the previous six campaigns. The Concord, NH native served as a minor league coordinator and hitting coach after joining the Giants organization in 1996. Prior to joining San Francisco, he was an instructor in the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies systems.

The former outfielder compiled a .258 average in 447 Major League games over six seasons with the Yankees (1980), San Diego Padres (1981-83) and Phillies (1983-86). He was originally the Yankees' third round selection in the June, 1977 Draft. Lefebvre was one of Sabean's high school teammates.The Eckerd College product lives in Hooksett, NH and has a son, Gregory, and a daughter, Kristin.
