Will I receive a Giants game ticket if I sign up for the half marathon or the 5k?

Only the first 2000 race registrations (half marathon or 5k) will receive a free Giants ticket with their race entry. Those that have qualified for the ticket will be notified immediately after they register for race via a pop-up window. At that time these lucky 2000 "real fans" will also have the option to purchase more tickets for friends and family.

How do I pick up my ticket?

Tickets will be sent to your home address or through will call. FREE TICKETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE PRE-RACE EXPO OR ON RACE DAY.

Will there be a sweat check at the start line?

There will be a clothes drop at the start line staging area. Re-useable race bags will be provided for your things and we will tag it with your race number. We will not provide plastic bags to hold your goods. We recommend no valuables be left in your bag. Clothes can be picked up after the races at the finish line area. We will not be liable for any valuables left in your race bag.

Will there be medallions for all that finish the half marathon or 5k?

All finishers, both half marathon and 5k participants, will receive a commemorative medallion or similar keepsake. These items and designs are currently being determined.

How will awards be presented?

Awards will be distributed at a table next to the expo stage in Lot A across from the ballpark. If you fail to pick up your award it will be mailed to the address associated with your bib. However, you are encouraged to pick it up in person and all prize money winners are required to do so.

Will all participants receive an event tee shirt?

A high quality technical fabric participant shirt will be provided for all half marathon participants. Participants of the 5k will receive a cotton race t-shirt. Tee shirt will recognize all as a participant in this inaugural event.

Is there going to be a party after the event?

The "Official Post-Race Tail Gate" festivities begin immediately when the 5k finisher arrives and will continue in the expo tent in Lot A across from the ballpark. Music, beer garden, and pre-Giants game tailgate will continue until 1:00 p.m. All finisher's, their friends and families and volunteers are welcome at the party.

Will there be medical support available on the course as well as at the finish line?

We will have first aid available at the start line as well as at various aid stations on the courses. Additionally, we will have a full medical staff and ambulance staged at the finish line.

How many aid stations will there be?

There are a total of 8 aid stations on the course.

Will there be restrooms available throughout the courses?

Portable restrooms will be available at the start line and present at each aid station along the half-marathon and 5k course, as well as at the finish line.

Will there be any massage available after the race?

There will be complimentary sessions, provided by volunteer massage therapists near the post-race party.

What type of parking is available race weekend?

Race participants are encouraged to park in Lot A and Lot B off of Third St. near the start line.

Is there a time limit in which to complete the marathon and half marathon courses?

The half marathon course will close at three and a half hours. Once the course closes participants exceeding the rolling closure will be asked to navigate the course back to the finish while obeying all standard pedestrian laws and utilizing sidewalks.

What if I can't finish the race?

There will be SAG vehicles provided by race organizers along the full and half marathon course. If you are unable to finish they will drive you back to the finish area or to the next aid station as necessary.

Are the courses "walker friendly"?

Yes, both the half marathon and 5k courses are walker friendly however; you must be able to complete the half marathon course in three and a half hours.

Can I wear headphones during the race?

We do not recommend usage of any audio equipment during the race on either the half marathon or 5k for safety reasons. However If you want to use an audio device, do so at your own risk.

Are strollers allowed on either the marathon or half marathon courses?

Due to safety concerns no strollers or pets are permitted on the half marathon or 5k courses.

If I need to cancel, can I get a refund?

Once registered there will be no refunds on entries allowed. However, in the event of special circumstances we will allow you to roll over your entry to the 2011 event at a small charge. Those requests must be sent to info@giantrace.com by June 1, 2010. No rollovers will be accepted after that date.

Will I receive a confirmation card after I send in my entry form?

If you register on-line you will receive an email confirmation, please keep a copy of your email for your records.

Is there a limit to the number of participants in the half marathon or 5k?

To ensure a world class event in our inaugural year, there will be a limit for both races of a combined total of 7,000 participants.

How can I purchase official race merchandise?

Official race merchandise will be available at the Expo on Friday, June 11, 2010 and after the race during post-race activities.

Who are the Pace Leaders?

All PacWest pacers are experienced runners, having trained in PacWest's run program in San Francisco, Marin County, Oakland or San Jose. Each pacer is capable of running 10-15 minutes faster than the time they are pacing. This allows them the ability to comfortably direct, instruct and motivate runners throughout the race.

Why run with a Pace Leader?

Following a pace leader eliminates any guesswork and / or race strategy. Runners looking for a PR (personal record) or those who simply have trouble pacing themselves over 13.1 miles benefit the most from running with a pacer.

What is the Pace Team strategy?

All PacWest pace leaders will maintain a consistent, even effort pace throughout the race. Because of the mass start and the crowd of runners, the first mile may not be the most accurate. However, rest assure, your pace leader will make-up any time difference gradually throughout the 13.1 mile course.

Do Pace Leaders provide support during the race?

Thick of the pace leader as your personal coach on the run! Pacers are great about offering advice and helping you make adjustments in order to stay on pace. Your pace leader might be a story teller, stand-up comedian, or simply a great motivator. The goal is to get you across the finish line, on time!

How do I find the Pace Leader on race day?

On race day your pace leader will be lined up in the carrels with the rest of the runners. Look for the bright sign attached to a stick (see picture above). Pace leaders will be carrying this visible signage throughout the race. Also, look for other runners wearing a special color-coded pace team bib on the back of their shirt.

How do I sign up for the Pace Team?

It's FREE. Simply drop by the PacWest booth at the pre-race expo and pick up a special color-coded bib with your pace finishing time: 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, 2:45.
