1987 - August 10
Giants go back-to-back to beat Astros 6-5
The Giants, seeking their first postseason berth in 16 years, began a late summer surge by winning four in a row to pull within two games of first-place Cincinnati. On August 10, they faced the defending N.L. West champion Houston Astros at Candlestick. The Giants quickly fell behind 4-0 but rallied to tie the score with a three-run 7th, a rally which featured a game-tying double by Bob Brenly. Scott Garrelts surrendered the go-ahead run in the top of the 8th, but in the bottom of the 9th, lightning quickly struck twice...

1987 - September 28
Giants clinch N.L. West with 5-4 victory at San Diego
Seeking their first division title in 16 years, the Giants dominated the season's final two months. On September 28 in San Diego, they achieved their goal with dramatic flair. Both Jeffrey Leonard and Chili Davis contributed their 100th career home runs and the Caveman, Don Robinson, homered to provide the winning run and nailed down the save as the Giants were crowned N.L. West Champions.

1989 - September 04
Giants come back from 8-0 deficit to beat Reds 9-8
In a season that would see the Giants win their first pennant in 27 years, they achieved one of their most memorable - and improbable – victories. In Cincinnati on September 4, after falling behind 8-0 in the 6th inning, manager Roger Craig lifted most of his starters only to see his bench players engineer an amazing late-inning rally. The Giants scored two in the 7th, two more in the 8th and five in the 9th to stun the Reds 9-8.

1989 - September 20
Giants come back from 7-0 deficit to beat L.A. 8-7
Sixteen days after an incredible comeback at Cincinnati, the Giants achieved a similar feat against the arch rival Dodgers at Candlestick. They trailed 7-0 after three innings but received a lift from longtime minor-leaguer Stu Tate, who pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and ignited the crowd with four strikeouts. The Giants closed the gap with a three-run 6th and then shocked the Dodgers by scoring five times without making an out in the bottom of the 9th.

1991 - June 23
Giants come back to win on original Turn Back The Clock Day
It was baseball's first true "Turn Back The Clock" day and the Giants went all out with vintage uniforms, a parade of classic cars, a manual scoreboard, and a megaphone for P.A. announcements. Team employees, broadcasters and fans also dressed up for the occasion, and the team sent everyone home happy with a 9th-inning rally that downed the Cubs 2-1.

1993 - April 12
New owners, Bonds make S.F. debut in extra-inning win
At the end of the 1992 season, the Giants seemed destined to move to another Bay Area in South Florida. But to the delight of San Francisco fans, an ownership group headed by Peter Magowan stepped in to rescue the team. These new owners quickly moved to improve the club by signing 2-time N.L. MVP and Bay Area native Barry Bonds, who would lead the Giants to 103 victories. The party started in impressive fashion as in the home opener on April 12, 1993, Bonds homered at a spruced-up Candlestick Park, and the Giants beat the expansion Florida Marlins 4-3 in 11 innings.

1993 - April 18
Giants outlast Braves 13-12 in 11 innings
In a back-and-forth game that would presage one of the greatest pennant races in baseball history, the Giants slugged it out with the defending National League champion Atlanta Braves at Candlestick. The visitors took a pair of 5-run leads, only to see the home team come back to tie both times. The Giants scored four in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings, eventually walking off winners on Matt Williams' fourth hit of the game. Barry Bonds also contributed four hits, including three doubles, and made two great catches in left field.

1997 - September 18
Giants catch Dodgers on Brian Johnson's home run
Many Giants fans consider this the most memorable regular-season game in the team's San Francisco history. The surprising Giants, trying to go from worst to first in the N.L. West, led the division race for most of the season before falling behind the surging Dodgers in September. But, on September 17, the Giants pulled within one game of their arch rivals with a thrilling 2-1 victory setting up the critical series finale on a warm weekday afternoon at Candlestick. Barry Bonds sent the huge crowd into a frenzy with an early 3-run homer, but the Dodgers rallied to tie the game and it took an unforgettable escape by Rod Beck to set the stage for Johnson's 12th-inning heroics.

2000 - July 18
Armando Rios beats Texas with pinch-hit 3-run walkoff HR
The 2000 season was the first played on the shores of McCovey Cove, and the Giants produced a season worthy of their gorgeous new ballpark. After a slow start, the Giants started winning in June and by July they were hot on the heels of the defending N.L. West champion Arizona Diamondbacks. On July 18, the Giants trailed 3-0 in the 8th in an interleague matchup against the Texas Rangers when the rally began. The Giants scored two in the 8th to make it close, and in the 9th, they delivered the most dramatic finish of their new park's inaugural season.

2000 - September 21
Giants clinch West with comeback win over D-Backs
The Giants crowned the first season at their glittering new ballpark with a division title, but it wasn't easy. In front of 40,000 towel-waving fans eager to celebrate, they twice fell behind by two runs, but rallied each time with the help of three RBI by Ellis Burks. The Giants finally took the lead with two in the 8th before Robb Nen touched off the celebration by nailing down the Giants' fifth N.L. West title.
