Play Ball Lunch presented by Blue Shield of California
A quarter of a million dollars was raised at the Giants Community Fund's annual luncheon, in which fans dined with the entire Giants team, coaches, trainers, broadcasters and alumni. Photo gallery

San Francisco Earthquake 100th Commemoration - 2006 marked the 100th Anniversary of the 1906 Earthquake. The Giants remembered this historic event during the Giants vs. Astros game April 13.

Chevron Marine Mammal Day - The Giants joined with Chevron and The Marine Mammal Center for a day dedicated to raising awareness about the care and protection of seals, sea lions, whales, and other mammals.

San Francisco Immunization Coalition Event - This celebration commemorated the improvements the Coalition has made in San Francisco by maximizing immunization protection.

G.R.E.A.T. Event - Winners of the fifth annual G.R.E.A.T. essay contest for kids around the Bay Area were brought to the ballpark for a special reception and ceremony. Sponsored by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the contest asked kids to explain how they can make their community a better place through gang resistance and positive living.

Junior Giants Glove Drive presented by Bank of America
Thank you to all who donated a glove or $10 to the Junior Giants Glove Drive. Over $20,000 and nearly 800 gloves were collected for Junior Giants players so they can receive their own glove this season. If you couldn't make it to the game, you can still donate online and receive a pin. Also, a special thanks to the fans who stayed after the game for the live auction, which raised another $30,000 for our programs.

Kids Are Giants Too! - The Giants and health care partner CHW brought more than 1,500 fourth graders to AT&T Park before the Giants faced the Cardinals to hear from Giants head trainer Stan Conte and outfielder Steve Finley about the importance of exercising, healthy eating and staying away from tobacco.

Salute to the Military - The Giants marked the Memorial Day weekend with a Salute to the Military. Members of the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the new generation of severely injured servicemen and women, were honored before the game.

Prostate Cancer Foundation Home Run Challenge - Giants Steve Finley and Mike Matheny lent their support to the efforts of the world's largest philanthropic institute for raising awarenes and money for prostate cancer.

Pitch, Hit and Run - Sixteen athletes came to AT&T Park to participate in the Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run, the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program, initiated in 1996, is designed to provide youth across North America with an integrated competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball skills. More than 450,000 boys and girls from the ages of 7-14 currently participate in the program.

Balldude/Dudette Camp - This charity event gave fans the opportunity to try out to be a "Balldude" or "Dudette" for a game in 2006. Judges tested participants' baseball knowledge and their ability to field, throw and catch.

ASA/National Pro Fastpitch Night - Hundreds of Northern California ASA girls' fast pitch softball players, coaches, administrators and their family and friends attended, with the opportunity to participate in a pregame Q&A session with NPF team members and learn from many former collegiate All-Americans and Olympic team members what it is like and what it takes to play professional softball.

Giants vs A's Wives Annual Softball Game - The Giants wives defeated the A's wives, 7-5, in their annual softball game. The wives also sold mystery grab bags featuring autographed baseballs from many of your favorite Giants and A's players. Proceeds benefited Bay Area charities.

Habitat for Humanity Night
Pitcher Tim Worrell joined Giants front office staff members and other volunteers in starting construction on a house for Habitat for Humanity San Francisco, part of Major League Baseball's ongoing partnership with Habitat. Coverage » | Photo gallery

Law Enforcement Night - The Giants partnered with Northern California law enforcement personnel to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics of Northern California. The evening included a ceremony in which the Special Olympics torch was carried across the field at AT&T Park as it headed to Stockton for the Special Olympics Summer Games.

FSN Bay Area and Emerald Skills Clinic - The clinic consisted of three 45-minute instruction stations: pitching, fielding and hitting. Attendees rotated among the three stations, each of which was led by a professionally trained staff of coaches.

CHW Strike Out Hunger Food Drive/Easter Seals Walk with Me - Walk with Me participants enjoyed fun, food and festivities, including live music at China Basin Park just over the Third Street bridge adjacent to AT&T Park. Also held was the annual CHW Health Services Food Drive, benefiting the San Francisco Food Bank. Food Bank volunteers collected donations prior to the Giants vs. Phillies game and in the ballpark throughout the game, helping the San Francisco Food Bank provide much-needed food assistance to 450 non-profit programs like grocery pantries, soup kitchens and residential treatment facilities in San Francisco.

Make-A-Wish Tuesdays - As a spokesperson for the Bay Area chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Giants first baseman/outfielder Mark Sweeney hosts children suffering from life-threatening illnesses at AT&T Park. During every Tuesday home game, Sweeney welcomes a "wish" child on the field to watch batting practice. On July 18, the Giants and Sweeney hosted the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation at the ballpark for a reception and homeplate ceremony.

Juvenile Diabetes Awareness Day - The Fifth Annual Juvenile Diabetes Awareness Day provided an opportunity to educate the public about juvenile diabetes and the important work of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Fans were provided with information about the disease and the fundraising efforts of JDRF in the Bay Area and the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Zeum - Zeum staff were on hand to promote the Fourth Annual "Pitch Your Idea," taking place from June 17-Sept. 4. Visit San Francisco's hands-on arts and technology museum to create a clay animation about why you love the Giants, and enter to win exciting prizes.

Until There's A Cure Day - In 1994, the Giants became the first-ever professional sports team to host an AIDS benefit game, "Until There's A Cure Day." Since then, the Giants and the Giants Community Fund have repeated the effort, generating more than $850,000 for Bay Area AIDS education and care/service organizations and international AIDS research.

Giants Wives Online Charity Auction
Since 2000, the wives have focused their efforts on children's issues and programs, raising more than $100,000 for the Giants Community Fund and Comfort for Kids. This year's auction included pink jerseys worn by the wives in their annual charity softball game vs. the A's wives and autographed by their husbands.

Family Day in the Park - Fans could bring the family to enjoy the ballpark, even though the Giants weren't playing there, by tossing the ball around on the field, using the batting cages and even hitting the ball from home plate.

Project Homeless Connect Night - The Giants raised funds and awareness for Project Homeless Connect, a partnership between San Francisco City Government, the Department of Public Health, the Human Services Agency, the business and non-profit sectors, and individual community volunteers.

Major League Baseball Players Trust Buses for Baseball Program
A group of about 50 kids from Alameda's Chipman Middle School got a special treat, attending a game as guests of Barry Bonds. The kids were provided transportation to the game, tickets and a pregame meeting with Bonds where they shook hands, got autographs and took photos with the slugger. Photo gallery

Giants Community Fund Organ Donor Awareness Day - The San Francisco Giants and the Giants Community Fund presented the Eighth Annual Organ Donor Awareness Night, an annual event at AT&T Park in which Giants players and coaches urge fans to become organ donors.

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco Day - The Giants welcomed staff, volunteers and members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco to AT&T Park. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America are the national charitable partner of Major League Baseball, and the Giants are working at the local level with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco to raise awareness for the educational and recreational programs that are offered to more than 10,000 children and teens each year in eight Clubhouses throughout the City.

Fox Sports Net Stay in School Challenge - The challenge honored those middle and high school students from throughout the Bay Area who had 10 weeks of perfect attendance during the 2006 school year.

Strike Out Cancer by Genentech - This event honored cancer survivors and empowered others to learn more about dealing with the disease. During the game, fans had the opportunity to receive information on cancer resources and empowerment programs and to support these programs through a donation to The Wellness Community. A raffle was held during the game offering fans a chance to win memorabilia and autographed items.

Junior Giants Day presented by Bank of America
The Giants Community Fund proudly invited nearly 5,000 Junior Giants to the ballpark for the annual Junior Giants Day celebration. The Junior Giants participated in an unforgettable pregame parade around the field before settling in their seats to watch the game and eat a complimentary lunch. Giants Community Fund Sports Memorabilia Auction - The Giants Community Fund hosted its annual year-end silent auction with nearly 70 autographed items and a live auction featuring more than 20 unique items, including Bonds, Mays and McCovey memorabilia and exclusive experiences at the ballpark.

Coca-Cola & Jack in the Box Family Safety Day
The Giants teamed up with local and state transportation agencies to present an interactive safety festival on Terry Francois Boulevard. The festival included demonstrations, interactive displays and information booths promoting the importance of safety to fans of all ages. Fans also donated toys and cash to benefit the SFFD Toy Drive Program. Photo gallery

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Night - The event helped raise awareness and funds to support the society's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Swing Like A Giant - Participants took swings off the pitching machine from home plate, with the top five hitters winning exclusive prizes. Proceeds benefited the Giants Community Fund.

"Republic of Baseball" movie premiere - The Giants Community Fund hosted the San Francisco premiere of "Republic of Baseball: The Dominican Giants of the American Game" with Felipe Alou, Juan Marichal, Matty Alou and Ozzie Virgil participating in a question and answer session following the screening. Proceeds from the screening of the film will benefit a field renovation project in the Dominican Republic.

Education Night - The Giants Community Fund recognized the outstanding contributions of local organizations and individuals to the cause of education and literacy, honoring its 2006 education grant recipients in a pregame ceremony. The Fund also honored the fourth class of Junior Giants Scholars.

Strike Out Violence Day & Jerseys Off Our Giants presented by Blue Shield of California - The Giants partnered once again with Blue Shield of California, the San Francisco Sheriff's Department's Resolve to Stop the Violence Program and the Family Violence Prevention Fund to educate and bring public awareness to the issue of violence. Volunteers also sold $1 raffle tickets throughout the ballpark for the chance to win a game-worn autographed Giants jersey, to benefit violence prevention efforts.

Halloween Heroes
