Giants Community Fund Mission Statement
The Giants Community Fund uses baseball as a forum to encourage youngsters and families to live healthy, productive lives. The Fund supports Junior Giants summer leagues throughout Northern California and collaborates with the San Francisco Giants to provide assistance to targeted community efforts.
The Grants Program
PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES AND INSTRUCTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY AS THEY HAVE CHANGED THIS YEAR:
WHO MAY RECEIVE A GRANT? Grants are awarded to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations in Northern or Central California or Junior Giants communities in Oregon and Nevada whose proposed program falls within the annual "focus" category. Special consideration will be given to programs that serve children and families active in the
Junior Giants Program. (Note: Organizations that directly run a Junior Giants league may not apply.)

FOCUS AREA FOR 2009 GRANTS PROGRAM:
VIOLENCE PREVENTION:
Description: The Giants Community Fund is committed to funding programs that assist with ending the cycle of violence and the impact it has on our Junior Giants, their families and their communities. This includes, but is not limited to, the following areas: family violence prevention, gang prevention and intervention and anti-bullying.
Funds available: Approximately $15,000.
SIZE OF GRANTS:
The Fund is considering awarding three $5,000 grants this year.

Please read the following instructions carefully to ensure that your application will be reviewed:
Applications for 2009 grants must be submitted by
TUESDAY, JULY 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.

After reading the instructions, please complete the required information on the application.

Send an email with your completed application form only as an attachment (Microsoft Word (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rft) file only) to the appropriate contact below. Applications submitted in any other format will NOT be accepted. In the email subject line please list the grant category and then the name of your organization. For example: Violence Prevention - XYZ organization.

Within a few days of receipt, the appropriate contact will email you a confirmation that your application has been received. Please do not follow-up with this contact regarding the status of your application (please refer to the Timeline section below). |
All application information must include the following:

• 2009 Grant Application Summary Sheet

• Information about your organization's involvement with Junior Giants participants

• History and activities of the organization

• Goals and description of the program for which funding is being sought

• Number of clients served, intended outcomes and plan for evaluation

• Explanation of parent/guardian involvement in the program

• Amount requested and specifics about how funds will be used

• Sources of other funding pledged/received for your proposed program and the plan for continued funding/maintenance of the program

• Organization's current operating budget (income and expenses by source)

• Specific program and line item budgets

• Outline of ways donors/funders are recognized for their support

• Names of the officers and directors
PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY MATERIALS BY MAIL AS THEY WILL NOT BE REVIEWED OR RETURNED. PLEASE DO NOT EXCEED THE APPLICATION PAGE LIMIT, OR YOUR INFORMATION MAY NOT BE REVIEWED.
If an application is selected as a finalist, additional materials may be requested such as:

• The latest 12-month financial statement

• The most recent IRS tax determination letter confirming 501(c)(3) status
TIMELINE
All applications must be received via email by the above stated
deadline of Tuesday, July 7 at 1:00 p.m. Organizations that have been selected for a site visit will be contacted within two months after the initial grant deadline. Please do not call during this time period to check on the status of your application. All applicants will be contacted by U.S. mail regarding the status of their application in late August/early September. Grants will be publicly announced at pre-game ceremonies in early September 2009. Grant recipients will be expected to produce a brief report within one year of receiving funds.
