The AVP Crocs Tour San Francisco presented by FUZE Beverage is bringing professional beach volleyball back to the Bay Area. The three-day event, part of the AVP Crocs Cup Shootout series presented by Bud Light, will take place along the Embarcadero Waterfront at Pier 30/32, on September 12, 13 & 14th and will feature local talents Kerri Walsh, Matt Fuerbringer, Nicole Branagh and Holly McPeak.
The AVP Crocs Tour San Francisco presented by FUZE Beverage will kick off just three weeks after the conclusion of the 2008 Olympic Games on Friday, Sept. 12th. Main Draw competition will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, September 13th from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., concluding with the men's and women's finals on Sunday, Sept. 14th from 11:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For the second year in a row, the Mavericks Surf Contest® will be broadcast at AT&T Park LIVE via satellite. Last year over 1000 people spent the day at AT&T Park watching the nearly eight-hour satellite feed on plasma screens throughout the park, as well as on the HD big screen scoreboard.
The Contest date is determined on 24 hours notice upon Mother Nature's production of a Contest-worthy winter swell, sometime between December '08 and March '09.
Although the contest date and time are TBD, tickets can be purchased right now for only $15. Prices will increase, so don't delay!
The 2008 Emerald Bowl is set to be played for the first time on a Saturday, the traditional day for college football. The Bay Area's 7th Annual Emerald Bowl will be played on December 27 at 5pm PST at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The game will again feature a team from the Pac-10 and the ACC and will be played in primetime as part of a triple-header on ESPN.
Last year's game saw the Pac-10's third place team Oregon State defeat ACC representative Maryland 21-14 behind an impressive running game and a stout defense. The game recorded the second highest attendance and TV ratings in Emerald Bowl history and again solidified the Bowl nationally as one of the top 10 bowl games outside of the BCS.
