I take my job very seriously, but I've always had a lighthearted approach to the game. I like to have fun and get things done. I want to enjoy my time in baseball because I know I'm not some spring chicken and I may not have a lot of years left. I just want to enjoy it and have fun.

If you're too uptight, this game is going to chew you up and spit you out. There are 25 other guys who walk into the same clubhouse as you and you need to be able to check your ego at the door.

As a reliever, we have a lot of fun during the season. In the Tampa bullpen we had what we called the "senate." If some of the fans could just hear us out there, they would get a good laugh.

I like to do impressions and experiment with different accents. The impression I do the most is Sean Connery. I play around with that one a lot. I also can do Sylvester Stallone and Harry Caray pretty well.

It's all just playing around, though. I have so much down time that I'll go crazy if I don't do something.

Being from Louisiana, I don't know if my Southern accent helps or hinders my impressions. I think it may help because my Southern drawl is so thick that the other accents just sound so odd coming out of my mouth.

There are a lot of funny guys on the team: guys like Brian Meadows, Jon Switzer and most of the bullpen, to boot. Even Ty Wigginton will throw out a good one every now and then. We're all amusing in our own ways I guess. We make each other laugh a lot.

At the same time, I don't take playing baseball for granted. I don't know exactly how long it took for me to get to the Major Leagues, but I do know that it was a long time. There were times when it felt like the wheels were just spinning in the mud.

So when you get that chance, you want to do everything you can to stay up here and establish yourself as a big leaguer. I don't take that lightly. I'm up here now and I want to stay up here. The big thing is to remain humble. I just want to go out there and do the best I can.
