Penny finishes strong
Photos
Giants 4, D-backs 1
Eli Whiteside started the scoring with a two-run single. (Ben Margot/AP)
The Giants signed Brad Penny to aid them in their playoff push and the veteran did his part, culminating with nine stellar innings in a victory over the D-backs. Catcher Eli Whiteside also had a standout night with a homer and three RBIs, but San Francisco was eliminated from the playoff race by a Colorado win earlier in the night.
