Wood posted his Major League-best eighth straight quality start in his last outing against the Rockies. He's the second Cubs lefty ever to open a season with eight quality starts, joining Hippo Vaughn (1919). He's also been pretty good at the plate.

Cueto is scheduled to come off the DL to make his first start since April 13. The righty has been out with a right lat strain, but he has looked strong in his rehab stint. Cueto allowed just three hits over five shutout innings for Class A Dayton.

Marcum's fourth start with the Mets was by far his best. He completed five innings for the first time, allowing three runs and pitching into the seventh. But the Mets did not back him with offense, leading to another loss.

It appears that Leake will stick around after Johnny Cueto's return to the rotation following a stint on the DL. Leake helped his cause by posting a 2.79 ERA in three starts since a three-inning bad outing.
