Back spasms no concern as Posey starts at first
LOS ANGELES -- Never concerned about the mild back spasms that forced his removal from Monday's game in the eighth inning, Buster Posey started at first base for the Giants on Tuesday night against the Dodgers."It felt like a crick in my neck, except it was in the upper back," Posey said. Just to be sure about Posey's health, manager Bruce Bochy monitored the All-Star catcher during batting practice. Had Posey felt merely a twinge, Bochy would have scratched him from the lineup. Had Posey avoided back woes entirely, he might have engaged in the rare activity of catching Barry Zito, Bochy said. Posey has formed the starting battery with Zito in seven of the left-hander's starts, compared with 25 for Hector Sanchez. Bochy reiterated that he won't hesitate to pair Posey with Zito in the postseason.
