Huff dealing with knee tendinitis
PHILADELPHIA -- First baseman Aubrey Huff's MRI revealed patellar tendinitis in his troublesome right knee, the Giants announced Saturday.Huff, who reported renewed pain in the knee Thursday while playing for Triple-A Fresno on a Minor League injury rehabilitation assignment, will be re-evaluated in San Francisco on Monday. Until Huff reinjured himself, the Giants were contemplating activating him from the disabled list Monday. Huff originally sprained his knee while trying to scale the dugout railing to join the Giants' on-field celebration following Matt Cain's perfect game. He has played nine rehab games, four with Fresno and five with Class A San Jose, hitting .207 (6-for-29) with one double, one home run and four RBIs.
Fontenot thankful for time with Giants
PHILADELPHIA -- Mike Fontenot's Giants career lasted only 113 games, but that stint left an enduring impression on him."I enjoyed it," said Fontenot, who signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in mid-April after the Giants released him March 30. "It was a fun city, a fun place to play and a great atmosphere. We won a World Series, which is something I'll always look back on." Fontenot figured that joining the Giants on their historic ride sweetened his resume. The utility infielder has performed for postseason qualifiers in three of the previous five years.
"When I step on the field, hopefully I'm better prepared because I've been through those things," said Fontenot, a member of the Cubs when they reached the Division Series in 2007-08.Fontenot, who hit .241 as a Giant, owned a .308 batting average through 41 games with the Phillies entering his start Saturday at third base.
