Heritage Nights are back!
Homestand also features Dog Days of Summer and Plate to Plate 5K Fun Run, presented by AT&T
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

SAN FRANCISCO -- Summer is coming to an end but the Dog Days are just beginning with only three homestands remaining on the Giants schedule. The Giants have packed their ninth homestand of the season with special events. On the field, Hanley Ramirez and the Florida Marlins open the homestand on Tuesday, Aug. 19 with a three-game set followed by the final Giants-Padres match-up this season at AT&T Park beginning on Friday, Aug. 22. The July National League Rookie of the Month, Ian Stewart, and the Colorado Rockies will make their second appearance at China Basin on Monday, Aug. 25 for a three-game series.

The homestand will open up on Tuesday, Aug. 19 with Irish Heritage Night, presented by O'Neill's making its second appearance of the season. Fans who purchased special ticket packages are invited to a pre-game party in Lot D and will receive Irish heritage/Giants caps. Prior to the game Healy Irish Dancers will be performing on the field.

Italian Heritage Night will be on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Those who purchased ticket packages will be given Italian heritage/Giants beanie caps and will sit in a designated area. Outfielder Randy Winn will receive the Heart and Hustle award from Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. Giants alumni Jim Davenport will be presenting Randy with the award which is given to players who demonstrate passion for the game, and who best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game.

The Padres return to town for their final series of the season at AT&T Park on Friday, Aug. 22. It is also Forever Giants Friday, presented by Bank of America, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Night and African-American Heritage Night. With September being Blood Cancer Awareness Month and the Giants are hosting the fourth annual Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Awareness Night. For every ticket that is purchased for the event $5.00 will go back to LLS in support of the Light the Night Walk in San Francisco, which takes place Thursday Oct. 2, 2008 at Justin Herman Plaza. Fans who purchased special ticket packages for African-American Heritage Night will receive a Giants PA Announcer Renel Brooks-Moon talking bobblehead.

The Giants welcome back Dog Days of Summer on Saturday, Aug. 23. The day will begin with a pre-judging costume contest beginning at 10:45 a.m. and continue with a parade on the field. The first 1,000 fans who enter the Seals gate will receive dog bowls. The game time has been changed to 1:05 p.m.

Prior to the game on Sunday, Aug. 24, beginning at 9 a.m., the Giants will host the second annual Plate to Plate 5K Fun Run, presented by AT&T to benefit Project Open Hand. The pre- and post- race events take place on Terry Francois Blvd with the race route entering the ballpark and participants crossing homeplate. It is also Autograph Sunday, See's Candies Kids Run the Bases and Junior Giants Day, presented by Bank of America. A parade will take place prior to the game with 4,200 Junior Giants.

Heritage Nights continues when the Rockies come in to town on Monday, Aug. 25 with Jewish Heritage Night. Those who purchased special ticket packages will receive Jewish heritage/Giants scarf with "Go Giants" on it in Hebrew.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26 the Giants will host Indian Heritage Night with a special pre-game performance.

The homestand will wrap up on Wednesday, Aug. 27 but not before celebrating Latino Heritage Night. Fans who purchase special ticket packages are invited to a pre-game party in Lot D. They will also receive Latino heritage/Giants t-shirts.
