SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants bench coach Ron Wotus, pitching coach Dave Righetti, bullpen coach Mark Gardner and bullpen catcher Bill Hayes will return to manager Bruce Bochy's staff for the 2008 season, club Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Sabean announced today. The team also announced that it will not retain hitting coach Joe Lefebvre and first base coach Willie Upshaw, both of whom will be offered positions within the organization.

"Bruce (Bochy) and I have met about our coaching staff and after lengthy conversations, we have decided that there need to be some changes but not wholesale changes," said Sabean. "I want to thank both Joe and Willie for their efforts here with the Giants."

"It's always tough to make changes and I want to thank Joe and Willie for their hard work and dedication and for helping me during my first year with the Giants," said Bochy. "I will be working closely with Brian to fill the two positions on the staff shortly."

Tim Flannery, who was already under contract for the 2008 season, will return as the third base coach.
