    Prior to tonight's game against the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox right-handed pitcher Carson Smith was returned from his injury rehab assignment with Double-A Portland and activated from the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster, infielder Marco Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket following Sunday night's game against the New York Yankees.

    The Boston Red Sox will once again open Fenway Park for a Mother's Day "Walk in the Park," presented by Bank of America, on Sunday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally, mom's can enjoy free tours of Fenway Park on Mother's Day, which take place every hour on the hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Red Sox recall infielder Marco Hernandez from Triple-A Pawtucket

    Hernandez, 23, begins the second major league stint of his career. In 13 games with Pawtucket this season, the left-handed batter has hit .333 (16-for-48) with a .396 on-base percentage, four doubles, and one triple, reaching base via hit or walk in each of his appearances.

To make room on the 25-man roster, left-handed pitcher Roenis Elias and right-handed pitcher Noe Ramirez were optioned to Pawtucket following yesterday's game versus the Houston Astros.
