MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was ejected by third-base umpire Alfonso Marquez for arguing a call at third base during the seventh inning of Sunday's 5-0 win over the Rangers.
Marquez ruled that Oswaldo Arcia was out at third base on a force on a sacrifice bunt attempt from Eduardo Escobar with two on and nobody out in the seventh. Gardenhire, though, argued that Arcia beat reliever Joe Ortiz's throw to third and was safe.
Gardenhire ended up getting tossed for the first time this season and for the 63rd time in his career. It was also the second time he was ejected by Marquez, as he was also thrown out by him July 1, 2010.
"I didn't want to get kicked out," Gardenhire said. "I just wanted to argue a little bit and get my kid out of there. I just screwed up and got kicked out."
After Gardenhire was ejected, the Twins added two runs in the seventh, as Jamey Carroll promptly came through with an RBI single before Brian Dozier did the same.
