MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers unveiled a 35-game Spring Training schedule on Tuesday, an exhibition slate expanded this year to account for the overlapping World Baseball Classic.
The 2013 spring opener is Saturday, Feb. 23, against the Oakland A's at Maryvale Baseball Park. It's the first of 17 Brewers home games at their west Phoenix facility before the team returns to Milwaukee for two more exhibitions against the White Sox.
Those Miller Park games are Friday, March 29, at 7 p.m. CT and Saturday, March 30, at 1:10 p.m. CT.
Down in Arizona, the Brewers will host the National League Central rival Reds on Saturday, March 16, and Cubs on Friday, March 22. Other highlights include a matchup vs. Team Canada's World Baseball Classic entry on Tuesday, March 5, at Maryvale, and a St. Patrick's Day game against the Dodgers in Glendale, Ariz., on Sunday, March 17.
The final home game at Maryvale Baseball Park for the Brewers is set for Wednesday, March 27, against Kansas City.
All Brewers games played in the Cactus League are scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time, except for Wednesday, March 13, at the D-backs, a game that begins at 7:10 p.m. local/9:10 p.m. CT.
For the first time, the Brewers have staggered their Spring Training reporting dates. Pitchers and catchers with zero to three years of Major League service time are scheduled to report on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Pitchers and catchers with three-plus years of Major League service, plus all position players, have a report date of Friday, Feb. 15.
Tickets for all of the Brewers' exhibitions at Maryvale Baseball Park will go on sale at 10 a.m. CT on Monday, Dec. 3, via brewers.com. Tickets are available in four seating areas: Field Box ($22), Infield Reserved ($16), Outfield Reserved ($13) and Lawn Seating ($8).
