SAN FRANCISCO -- Improving to 3-0 in their 10-game homestand with a 7-1 win against the Rockies on Wednesday, the Giants moved closer to clinching the division title in front of their fans at AT&T Park.

"If that happens, great. We have to keep winning every game we can, and we'll see what happens," manager Bruce Bochy said. "We still have our work ahead of us, and that's how we're going to look at it."

The magic number for the Giants is now at five after the win and the Dodgers splitting their double-header. Having won 25 of their last 36 games, the Giants are a season-best 23 games over .500.

Magic numbers
To calculate a team's magic number, take the number of games it has remaining and add one. Then subtract the difference in the number of losses between that team and its closest pursuer.

Tiebreaker scenarios
A tiebreaker game will be played to determine a division winner, even if the tied clubs are assured of participating in the postseason. If a division championship tiebreaker is necessary, the head-to-head record between the clubs will determine home-field advantage. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.

If two clubs are tied for the two Wild Card berths, home-field advantage will be determined by the head-to-head record between the clubs. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.
