ANAHEIM -- With Dan Haren headed to the disabled list for two weeks, the question as to who will take his spot in the rotation on Sunday still remains.

What is known, however, is that it will not be Jerome Williams.

"Jerome has a little more work to do," manager Mike Scioscia said. "I think that just from Jerome in his last start when he got hit in the arm. He had a good bullpen, but from a medical point of view, we've been advised that he needs to go out there and pitch a little longer and just make sure he's where he needs to be."

Williams, who was placed on the disabled list on June 20 after an asthma attack, lasted just two-plus innings in his rehab start at Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. After a scoreless first inning, the righty allowed two runs in the second inning and four in the third, including a three-run homer.

After the homer, Williams was struck in the right forearm with a line drive and was taken out of the game. His arm injury wasn't serious, but the team still wants to be patient with his return.

Before going on the DL, Williams had given up 14 runs in his last 16 2/3 innings, raising his ERA from 3.68 to 4.46.
