SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Madison Bumgarner allowed only one run over 5 2/3 innings, but the Giants lost to Texas, 4-1, on Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The Rangers entered the game with a team ERA of 5.43, the fourth highest in the Major Leagues this spring.

Rangers starter Alexi Ogando, a candidate to be in the rotation if Neftali Feliz continues to have shoulder problems, pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed three hits, walked three and struck out three, while catcher Yorvit Torrealba threw out two runners trying to steal.

"Everybody was pretty solid," said Rangers pitcher Mike Adams. "Now is the time when you want to lock it in. If you're still working on stuff, work on it. But now is the time everything needs to come together for us."

Baumgarner went 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run on eight hits. He walked two and struck out five while lowering his spring ERA to 2.21.

The Rangers picked up a run off Bumgarner in the fifth on three straight two-out singles by Mitch Moreland, Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus. Moreland scored from second, just beating the throw from center fielder Angel Pagan by sliding around Giants catcher Buster Posey.

It was the first play at the plate this spring for Posey, who suffered a season-ending broken leg when Marlins outfielder Scott Cousins slid hard into him on May 26.

"Two outs, I was doing everything I could to get in there," said Moreland. "He gave me the plate, that's why I slid around the outer half. He gave me the plate, there wasn't going to be any collision."

Josh Hamilton had two hits for the Rangers. It was his first multi-hit game of the spring.

The Rangers added three runs in the ninth. Luis Hernandez hit a two-out single to drive home Chris Robinson from second. After Craig Gentry was hit by a pitch, Brandon Snyder singled to drive home Alberto Gonzalez and Hernandez.

Brett Pill's ninth-inning homer accounted for San Francisco's only run.

Up Next: The Giants play a pair of split-squad games on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. PT, but it's possible a Minor League game may be as interesting as either of the Cactus League tilts. Minor Leaguer Travis Blackley will start the home game against the Rockies, while Matt Cain starts on the road against the Reds. Buster Posey is set to make his first start at first base in the home game. The Minor League match should feature Brian Wilson getting an inning in, and could see second baseman Freddy Sanchez make his first start in the field since dislocating his shoulder last June.
