It worked for Betty White, maybe it's time for "Saturday Night Live" viewers to Fear the Beard.
Fans on Facebook have created a campaign to have World Series champion Brian Wilson net an invite to host "SNL."
Perhaps the Giants' quirky dyed-beard-donning closer can follow in the footsteps of White, who hosted the show earlier this year after more than 500,000 fans voiced their support on the social networking site. Two pages for Wilson's "SNL" candidacy exist, with the older of the two launching Sept. 11 and boasting more than 21,000 "likes." A second page kicked off about a week ago and has more than 17,000 "likes."
Wilson's thick, dark beard became a rallying cry down the stretch, as he closed 48 regular-season games and helped lead the Giants to a World Series title. Wilson sealed San Francisco's first championship with a strikeout of Nelson Cruz to end Game 5 and clinch the Fall Classic.
