Giants at the plate: Through the first four innings, the Giants produced 12 baserunners. They also knocked out seven doubles in total, led by two apiece from Bengie Molina and Pablo Sandoval. Andres Torres, a one-time White Sox farmhand, added two hits, including a run-scoring triple.

White Sox at the plate: Alexei Ramirez not only led the offense with two hits against Matt Cain, but he was the complete total of White Sox offense through the first six innings. The only run scored off Cain came on an error charged to second baseman Matt Downs on a Juan Pierre line drive. Mark Teahen added a single in the seventh.

Giants on the mound: Cain dominated the White Sox over 6 2/3 innings, limiting the South Siders to one unearned run. The two singles by Ramirez, a fourth-inning walk issued to Paul Konerko and Teahen's single were the only baserunners allowed by Cain, aside from two errors committed behind the right-hander.

White Sox on the mound: Gavin Floyd completed a rough spring full stretch through the White Sox rotation. Floyd gave up six runs on nine hits in four innings, walking three and striking out four, meaning in the last five starts, the White Sox have allowed 38 hits and 23 earned runs in 22 2/3 innings.

Worth noting: Molina is not known for his speed. That lack of pickup was evident in the second inning, when Molina tried to score from second on Kevin Frandsen's single to center. Alex Rios' throw was cut off by first baseman Mark Kotsay, who had a play at the plate on Molina. But when he turned to throw the ball to catcher A.J. Pierzynski, the ball slipped out of Kotsay's hand and Molina scored safely. Those Molina afterburners might have made Kotsay rush the throw.

Cactus League records: White Sox 6-11-4; Giants 16-6.

Up next: On Wednesday at 3:05 p.m. CT, Arizona, the one-time Spring Training co-share with the White Sox at Tucson Electric Park, makes its only appearance against the White Sox at Camelback Ranch during 2010 Cactus League play. The White Sox travel to Tucson to take on the D-backs on Friday at their old home, giving the teams a two-game series spread out over three days. John Danks gets the start Wednesday, coming off a loss to the Cubs in which he was touched up for five runs in five innings, including two home runs. Bobby Jenks also is scheduled to pitch. The White Sox closer made a triumphant Cactus League return with a scoreless inning against the Royals on Monday and rebounded well Tuesday with no pain to report in his sore right calf. Carlos Quentin will start in right field against his original team, while Andruw Jones starts in center and Omar Vizquel gets the start at shortstop.

Most teams are done with split-squad games by now. The Giants are a rare exception. Some of them will play Wednesday beginning at 6:05 p.m. PT against the Kansas City Royals, who felt compelled to reschedule a March 7 rainout. Henry Sosa will start that game for the Giants against Kyle Farnsworth. That will be preceded by a Wednesday afternoon date at 1:05 p.m. PT against the Cincinnati Reds, who will throw Homer Bailey against Jonathan Sanchez. It's a key outing for Sanchez, who needs to continue building endurance. His Cactus League high is four innings, which he reached in his most recent start last Friday against Cleveland.
