Giants add four to 40-man roster

Transactions increase San Francisco squad to 39 players

11/21/09 1:31 AM EST

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants purchased the contracts of right-hander Kevin Pucetas, first baseman Brett Pill and outfielders Darren Ford and Francisco Peguero and added them to the 40-man roster Friday.

Pucetas, 25, spent the entire 2009 season at Triple-A Fresno, finishing 10-6 with a 5.04 ERA in 28 starts. A non-roster invitee to Major League camp last spring, Pucetas owns a career Minor League record of 42-13.

Pill, 25, made the postseason Eastern League All-Star team by hitting .298 with 37 doubles, 19 home runs and a league-leading 109 RBIs for Double-A Connecticut.

Ford, 24, hit .300 with 81 runs, 17 doubles, nine triples, nine homers, 50 RBIs and a team-high 35 steals for Class A San Jose. He joined the organization in the July 2008 trade that sent second baseman Ray Durham to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Peguero, 21, hit a combined .353 with 42 runs and 22 stolen bases in 75 games for Class A Augusta and short-season Salem-Keizer. Baseball America ranked him as the Northwest League's eighth-best prospect following the season.

The transactions increased San Francisco's 40-man roster to 39 players.
