Giants set to fete Big Unit for 300th win

Pregame ceremony to include Perry, Ryan, Seaver

06/19/09 9:12 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO -- Randy Johnson's 300th career victory must feel like it occurred weeks ago. Well, technically, it did.

Johnson joined the club every starting pitcher aspires to become a member of when he pitched six solid innings against the Washington Nationals on June 4. The Giants will honor Johnson on Saturday at AT&T Park before the second game of the team's Interleague series against the Texas Rangers. All fans who attend Saturday's game will receive a poster commemorating Johnson's feat.

Johnson will make his 600th career start Friday against the Rangers in what will be his second home start since becoming only the 24th pitcher to reach 300. Saturday will offer the right forum, two weeks after the fact, to honor the left-hander, who had many family and friends unable to stay in town for the Giants' rain-drenched series in the nation's capital.

Three other members of the exclusive 300 club will also be on hand at AT&T Park to celebrate Saturday: Hall of Famers Tom Seaver, Gaylord Perry and Nolan Ryan, with whom Johnson discussed pitching earlier in his career.

The pregame ceremony honoring Johnson will be carried live on MLB.com at approximately 5:45 p.m. PT.
