Mike McKenry homered in his first three at-bats and drove in a career-high seven runs Monday as the Phoenix Desert Dogs rolled to a 16-7 win over the Surprise Rafters.

McKenry swatted a solo shot in the second inning and sealed a six-run third with a three-run blast. The Desert Dogs scored six more times in the fourth, capped by another three-run shot by the Rockies catching prospect.

In his last two games, McKenry has gone 6-for-9 with four of his five AFL home runs, nine RBIs and five runs scored. In 11 games in Arizona, he is hitting .435 with 12 RBIs.

It was the first three-homer game in his career, and the seven RBIs eclipsed the mark he set with six for the Class A Advanced Modesto Nuts in a California League game against the Lancaster JetHawks on April 14 this season.

The Tennessee native played in 158 games for the Nuts in 2008, hitting .258 with 18 homers, 28 doubles and 75 RBIs. He was a South Atlantic League All-Star in 2007 for the Asheville Tourists after batting .287 with 22 homers, 35 doubles and 90 RBIs in 113 contests.

Twins prospect Steven Tolleson went 3-for-4 with a homer and three runs scored to raise his AFL average to .435 and stretch his hitting streak to eight games. Sean Doolittle (Athletics) hit a two-run homer and scored twice and Chris Nelson (Rockies) added two hits for Phoenix (9-8), which has won three straight and four of its last five.

Twins farmhand Jeffrey Manship (1-1) yielded two runs on four hits while striking out three and walking two over five innings.

Surprise starter Justin Orenduff (0-2) gave up eight runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings. The Dodgers farmhand walked two and struck out two.

Chad Tracy (Rangers) hit a two-run homer and Matt Wieters (Orioles) hit a solo shot for the Rafters (4-13), who dropped their sixth straight.
