SAN FRANCISCO -- Shortstop Omar Vizquel is in Arizona trying to rehabilitate his left knee and is "at least two or three days away" from playing in extended Spring Training games, manager Bruce Bochy said Friday.

Bochy said that Vizquel, who underwent surgery Feb. 22 and was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his knee earlier this month, had been "doing some baseball stuff." Privately, however, several people within the organization have expressed doubts that Vizquel, who turned 41 on Thursday, will rejoin the Giants any time soon.

Left-hander Noah Lowry is another Giant whose return remains indefinite. Bochy said that Lowry, who reported having inflammation in his surgically repaired left forearm Monday that canceled his first scheduled throwing session off a bullpen mound, will take "a little time off" to help his arm recover.

"I can't tell you how long. It's going to be a few days," Bochy said, noting that a doctor examined Lowry on Friday.

Right fielder Randy Winn missed his second start in a row with a stiff neck, although Bochy hoped he'd be available to pinch-hit. Bochy said that Winn probably would return to the lineup Saturday.

Infielder Kevin Frandsen, who's out for the year with a torn left Achilles tendon, began lifting weights Friday and hopes to get a head start on his recovery schedule if he can walk next week while only lightly using his crutches.
