Giants at the plate: Fred Lewis absolutely crushed a 3-1 Micah Owings pitch over the 40-foot-high batter's eye in dead center, more than 405 feet away from home plate. Bengie Molina then homered into the left-field bullpen on a 1-2 pitch. The Giants ran themselves out of a possible big inning in the first when both Dave Roberts and Lewis were thrown out trying to steal. The stolen base did help the Giants score their first run as Brian Bocock stole third and scored on a wild pitch in the third. Dan Ortmeier belted an RBI triple in the ninth.

D-backs at the plate: The D-backs jumped on Giants starter Nick Periera for three runs in the first inning. Chris Young led off with a double and scored when the next batter, Chris Burke, singled to right. Two outs later, Conor Jackson hit his second homer of the spring, a two-run shot. The D-backs got an unearned run in the fourth when Jeff Salazar blooped a single to right and took second when Lewis bobbled the ball slightly. Augie Ojeda followed with a single to center to score Salazar.

Giants on the mound: Periera came close to getting out of a jam in the first with only one run allowed, but he hung a 1-1 pitch that Jackson smacked for a homer. Periera seemed to settle in after the first, as he retired Arizona in order in the second and third innings before allowing an unearned run in the fourth.

D-backs on the mound: Owings' command problems continued as he walked four and threw a wild pitch in 5 1/3 innings. Owings was able to escape any major damage through the first five innings as he allowed just one run on one hit. But with one out in the sixth, Rajai Davis singled to center and Lewis followed with a massive blast over the batter's eye.

Cactus League records: Giants 8-19-2; D-backs 10-16-1

Up next for Giants: No. 5 starter Jonathan Sanchez will make his next-to-last preseason tuneup Tuesday as the Giants conclude their Cactus League exhibition schedule against the Chicago Cubs, who will start left-hander Rich Hill. Expect a big crowd at Scottsdale Stadium, where the Giants have averaged 11,707 in their last six home games.

Up next for D-backs: Right-hander Brandon Webb gets his final tuneup before next Monday's Opening Day when he takes the hill against the Angels on Tuesday at Tucson Electric Park. Webb will be followed by Chad Qualls, Tony Pena and Connor Robertson. The D-backs lineup is expected to be: Chris Young (CF), Stephen Drew (SS), Orlando Hudson (2B), Conor Jackson (1B), Trot Nixon (LF), Mark Reynolds (3B), Justin Upton (RF) and Robby Hammock (C).
