Correia shines in Giants' loss to Texas
Starter allows one hit in four innings; Ortmeier hits RBI triple

Thursday, March 16 Giants at the plate: Tyler Von Schell had a double in the eighth and scored on Kevin Frandsen's single to break a 2-2 tie. Jason Ellison led off the game with a single and scored on Dan Ortmeier's triple to right-center. After Todd Linden was hit by a pitch, Lance Niekro hit into a double play to drive home the second run. Rangers at the plate: Tim Olson had a game-winning, two-out single in the ninth. Kevin Mench hit a two-run home run, his fourth of the spring, and he has 13 RBIs. The Rangers were 1-for-28 with runners in scoring position over the past three games before Rashad Eldridge had an RBI double in the eighth. Giants on the mound: Starter Kevin Correia, trying to win a spot as the Giants' fifth starter, entered the game with a 7.36 ERA but held the Rangers to one hit in four innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out two. Rangers on the mound: Starter Kameron Loe gave up two runs in the first inning but settled down and retired 12 batters. He gave up a single and a double in the fifth before coming out of the game. Scott Feldman took the loss by allowing a run in the eighth. Cactus League records: Giants 8-6, Rangers 6-7. Up next: Juan Dominguez pitches for the Rangers at 2:05 p.m. CT Friday against Mark Buehrle and the White Sox in Tucson. Noah Lowry pitches for the Giants at 12:05 p.m. PT Friday in Scottsdale vs. the Chicago Cubs. Barry Bonds is expected to be in the lineup for the Giants.
