Traci Des Jardins announces two new AT&T Park eateries and new restaurant in Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe12/21/2009 2:31 AM ET
James Beard Award Winning Chef Traci Des Jardins announced today that she will open two new restaurants in March 2010 at AT&T Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants, and a third restaurant, Manzanita, on Dec. 11 in the new Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe at Northstar Resort- just in time for the holidays and winter ski season. Construction on the AT&T park eateries will start at the end of this month and convert Des Jardins' existing restaurant, Acme Chophouse, into two new establishments - Public House and Mijita. The building will be completed in time for the start of the baseball season. Bon Appetit Management Company will continue to operate the AT&T Park restaurants and the management of the eateries will stay the same with General Manager John Epperheimer and Executive Chef Thom Fox remaining in their current positions.
AT&T Park, with its breathtaking views and classic design, was chosen as the 2008 Sports Facility of the Year by Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily as part of the inaugural Sports Business Awards program. Public House is designed to be a year-round destination for great sports watching. Whether it's baseball, football, the Olympics, World Cup soccer or US Open Tennis, the eatery will feature giant televisions and a comfortable public house environment that will satisfy every kind of fan. Public House's menu will have a variety of offerings including the Cubano, veggie, grilled cheese and grass-fed hamburger sandwiches; crab cake, merguez sausage and pulled pork sliders; falafel, jalapeno poppers, buffalo wings, baby back ribs, homemade desserts, and much more. Public House will feature one of the largest draft beer and cask ale offerings in San Francisco and a full bar. In addition, the patio facing the Willie Mays statue will be expanded and radiant heat added to offset the sometimes unpredictable San Francisco weather.
Along Third Street opening adjacent to Public House and AT&T Park will be the second Mijita taqueria, the original Mijita is located at the Ferry Building. Mijita is a taqueria with a Bay Area flavor and will feature Mexican food from Traci's childhood, which was inspired by her maternal grandmother, Angela Salazar. Similar to the menu at the Mijita outpost in the Ferry Building, the AT&T Park location will feature a variety of tacos, an al pastor vertical rotisserie and cazuela line, house-made tortillas and some not-quite-authentic Mexican food items but fan favorites like nachos and super tacos. Mijita will also serve homemade guacamole and chips and bean burritos for kids.
Public House and Mijita will offer sit down dining and to-go options, making grabbing food and going to the ballgame, or heading back to the office quick, easy and delicious.
"The area by AT&T Park bustles with people all year-round, and these two new restaurants are designed to offer something for everyone," said chef Traci Des Jardins. "Whether grabbing a sandwich on the go to take into the ballpark or spending your lunch hour with us at Public House or Mijita, we plan to offer great quality food that is reasonably priced and sourced locally whenever possible."
The menu at Manzanita will be a combination of Des Jardins' signature French inspired California cuisine, with a regional mountain resort influence, sourcing organic, sustainable and locally grown meat and produce when available.
Des Jardins is also co-owner of Jardiniere Restaurant located near San Francisco's Civic Center area and the Opera House. Jardiniere features French-California cuisine and has earned Des Jardins a great number of accolades including the James Beard Foundation Award in 2007 for "Best Chef: Pacific." Jardinière has been listed as one of the "Top 100 Restaurants" in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle each year since opening.
